The emergence of new names on the Croatian designer scene has in the past several years often been linked to the success of the big group exhibitions that are held in Croatia with increasing regularity. For example, the first generation of graduates from the Zagreb School of Design owed their quick ascent to the very important first two exhibitions of the Croatian Design Association and the 34^th Zagreb Salon. These were exhibitions strongly marked by the change of generations and construction of a new aesthetic paradigm. The appearance of a great number of excellent authors in a surprisingly short amount of time came as a result of opening a great number of higher-education design institutions, but also to the unique atmosphere of designer activism expressed in formal experimenting with cultural magazine design in the 1990s, where the most prominent representatives of this generation started their professional career.
